11 Injured as Jeep Plunges Off Road in Syangja

At least 11 people were injured after a jeep veered off a road and plunged around 15 metres in Biruwa Rural Municipality on Monday evening, police said.

The accident occurred along the Ghumti–Biruwa inner road section at Madkina in Ward-4, when a jeep (registration number Ga 1 Ja 7084) travelling from Ghumti in Putalibazar Municipality towards Biruwa lost control and fell down a slope, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prasanna Raj Chaudhary, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Syangja.

A total of 15 people, including the driver, were on board at the time of the crash. Police said the injured were rescued and taken to the Provincial Hospital in Putalibazar for treatment. Some of the victims are reported to be in moderate condition.

Those injured include Angel Nepali, 8; Krischal Darji, 13; Man Singh Gurung, 50; Dalmaya Gurung, 59; and Rem Kumari Basyal, 65 all from Biruwa-4 in Syangja.

Others injured are Chandra Subba Gurung, 57, and Sharmila Nepali, 33, along with her two-and-a-half-year-old son Krishna Nepali, all from Putalibazar-7. Also among the injured are Bishnumaya Gurung, 60, of Pokhara-11; Bimala Gurung, 60, of Pokhara-15; and Sita Bagle, 56, of Pokhara-17.

A rescue team comprising 16 police personnel, led by an inspector, was deployed to the scene. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
