Aston Martin “aspires to make a faster car” with its new wind tunnel

The beginning of the 2025 season of the F1 for Aston Martin is not being expected. After the first five great calendar awards, the British team continues to fight to enter the points with a feeling that there are several steps below the leaders of the World Cup in the Motor Sports category. However, the Silverstone squad has its hopes on its new wind tunnel, which was installed on its campus in the middle of March.

The team director, Andy Cowell, says that the update of this tool has “opened their eyes.” Similarly, the British leader ensures that the tunnel is responsible for aerodynamically developing the car of both 2025 and next year.

Substantial changes in the next great awards

Now, Cowell indicates that there are hardware that will be able to witness in the next races of the campaign, highlighting the importance of changing the equipment. “We have made the transition to this tunnel, and there are hardware that we will see in the circuit in the next races,” said Aston Martin’s chief at the end of the Saudi Arabia GP.

“They will never tell you exactly the same, but we are enjoying the new wind tunnel. We have opened our eyes to some features. Then we have to work. If you have a new test installation that gives you a clearer vision, a more representative vision, then you have to do the aerodynamic development work,” explained the British when comparing his new wind tunnel with which they had previously at the headquarters.

The work in Silverstone continues

Despite demonstrating satisfaction with the new wind tunnel, Andy Cowell argues that “you have to change shapes, make parts, understand and then manufacture real -size components to take them to the circuit and measure them in this complex environment. We are in that process, enjoying the new tool, and we hope to make a racing car faster with it.”

Also, due to the difficult start of the season, the team leader admits that they are not happy with the car they have now. “I think we are not happy with the performance of the car. We would like it to be faster, we would like to add points in each race. The team is very ambitious.”

He added: “We are in the last year of these regulations. We are a relatively young team that tries to adapt to the new tools and understand them, and not only to survive, but to really succeed. There are many areas in which, if we could return to the beginning of the year with the same car, we could do better in each test. That gives us hope. There are relatively easy things that we can do to advance, but we also dominate some exceptionally complicated things.”
