Jorge Jesus ‘sentences’ Neymar: “He cannot perform at the level we are used to”

Neymar’s future at Al Hilal seems doomed. More than the club’s star, it seems like a problem for what is currently the best team in Saudi Arabia. The current champion leads, along with Al Ittihad, the local championship and today beat Al Fateh 9-0 to equal the biggest victory in the history of the Saudi league… equaling theirs from last year.

Neymar, who arrived as a star signing but whose injuries have kept him practically out of action, has barely played 42 minutes this season. And he has done it in the Asian Champions League, not in the league… where he is not registered to leave the foreigner’s spot open to another player.

The finishing touch to this very complicated situation was put today at a press conference by the coach of Al Hilal, Jorge Jesus. These were his words:

“Neymar can no longer perform at the level we are used to. Unfortunately, things got difficult for him. He still has a contract with Al Hilal and perhaps he will be the one who decides his future,” he began. And he added: “It is not easy. “Physically, Neymar cannot keep up with the team.”

The rumors coming from Brazil are therefore confirmed. Neymar could only play in the Asian Champions League (with what that means, a lack of continuity) and a return to the Brazilian league will soon be on the table again.
