Mahanta Thakur Files Candidacy for National Assembly from Madhesh with JSP Support

Mahanta Thakur has officially filed his candidacy for the National Assembly elections from Madhesh, with the support of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal.

Thakur submitted his nomination on Wednesday at the election office in Janakpur. He previously won two direct elections to the House of Representatives from Mahottari Constituency No. 3.

The decision comes after the Democratic Samajbadi Party (LOSPA) and JSP Nepal agreed to unite on January 14. Following the merger, JSP Nepal endorsed Thakur as their candidate. Prior to the unification with JSP Nepal, Thakur served as the chairman of LOSPA.

In the National Assembly elections, coordination has been established among Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and JSP Nepal.

Out of the 18 National Assembly seats, Nepali Congress has been allocated 9, CPN-UML 8, and JSP Nepal 1 seat.
