Martin Guptill to Continue with Biratnagar Kings for NPL Season 2

New Zealand batter Martin Guptill will continue to play for the Biratnagar Kings in the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

The team announced that they have retained Guptill for another season. The 39-year-old is well known for being one of the few players to score a double century in an ODI World Cup.

Guptill has a wealth of experience in both international and franchise cricket. He has played 122 T20 International matches for New Zealand, scoring 3,531 runs, and has made 9,900 runs in 351 T20 matches overall.

He has also played in top franchise leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings, as well as the Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, and Pakistan Super League.

Biratnagar has also signed South African star Faf du Plessis, along with Scotland’s George Munsey and Australia’s Sam Heazlett.

Among Nepali players, the team has retained marquee player Sandeep Lamichhane, along with Lokesh Bam, Pratish GC, Basir Ahmad, Naren Bhatt, and Subash Bhandari. From the auction, they added Surya Tamang, Sahil Patel, and Narayan Joshi, while from the wish list they signed Sarban Kishku and Shankar Rana.

The second season of the NPL will begin on Mangsir 1 (around mid-November).
