Rabi Lamichhane and Balen Shah Discuss Strategic Alliance for Upcoming Elections

Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah held an extensive meeting to discuss a potential partnership for the next general election. The discussion took place on Monday evening at the residence of former Member of Parliament Asim Shah in Kamalpokhari, lasting several hours into Tuesday morning.

The primary focus of the meeting was the development of a unified strategy for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for February 2026. High-level attendees included RSP Vice Chairman DP Aryal, Asim Shah, Asif Shah, and other prominent figures who joined the leaders to discuss the nation’s current political landscape.

According to RSP leader Asim Shah, the two parties reached a theoretical agreement to work together to address national political challenges. The dialogue emphasized the need for alternative political forces to lead the mainstream of Nepali politics and provide a new direction for the country’s governance.

While specific details of the alliance are still being finalized, the meeting is being viewed as a significant step toward consolidating political influence. Both leaders expressed a commitment to continued cooperation, viewing this initial discussion as a breakthrough for future joint political initiatives.
