Body of Saroj Sharma Found Buried Under Bridge in Jhapa

A man from Jhapa, missing since October 25, has been found dead. Police discovered the body of Saroj Sharma, 33, from Maidhar, Shivasatakshi Municipality-10, buried under the Biring Bridge along the Main Highway.

According to DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the Jhapa District Police Office, Sharma’s car (Province 1-03-CHA-7194) was found burned inside the Hatemalo Community Forest in Mechinagar-13 two days ago. The body was later found buried under the bridge, around 20 kilometers from where the car was found.

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case and believe others might also be involved. Investigations are ongoing.

Sharma, who worked in the IT field and lived in Kathmandu, had gone missing on October 25 after leaving home in his car, saying he was going to meet a friend. His family reported him missing the next day.

Police said the body was found buried with clothes still on, covered with metal sheets. Based on the condition of the body, police suspect he was killed three to four days earlier. The cause of the murder has not yet been determined, but investigators say the suspects are drug users.

One of the suspects has burn injuries on his hand, believed to have happened while setting the car on fire. Police have not yet released the names of the arrested suspects. Their statements helped police locate the buried body.

After the body was found, angry locals vandalized a house and a tempo (three-wheeler) in Maidhar. According to DSP Khadka, the house belonged to Rahul Sah, one of the arrested suspects. The crowd broke windows and damaged property, also destroying a tempo suspected to have been used to transport the body.
