Tension Rises in Mai Dhar After Body of Saroj Sharma Found

The Mai Dhar area of Jhapa has seen rising tension after the body of Saroj Sharma, 33, from Shivasatakshi–10, was found buried under the Biring River bridge. Sharma had been missing since Sunday, along with his car.

Three days earlier, Sharma’s car was found burned in the Charali forest, raising fears among locals. Following the discovery of the body, police have launched a full investigation into the incident.

Authorities have stepped up security in the area. Police and local officials have begun house-to-house inspections and set up security cordons around key homes. The residence of Bahadur Shah is under close watch, and a car belonging to Shyam Shah was also found burned.

Over a hundred security personnel are involved in the operation, including members of the District Police and local administration. One person, Sunil Shah, has been taken into custody for questioning as investigations continue. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and taking statements from nearby residents.

Locals say the atmosphere has become tense. One resident said, “We feel unsafe even spending a day here.”
Officials, however, have assured the public that strong security measures are in place to prevent further unrest. They expressed confidence that the situation will soon return to normal.
