Rajendra Lingden, the Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has voiced strong criticism against the government’s decision to ban TikTok, denouncing it as an autocratic measure.
Expressing his dissent on Facebook, Lingden argued, “This move reflects autocratic tendencies,” underlining the fundamental principle that freedom of expression should not be restricted under any circumstances. Lingden cautioned that the prohibition of TikTok is just the initial phase, suggesting that popular platforms like Twitter and Facebook might also be at risk of future bans.
“This marks just the beginning; we may witness bans on platforms such as X (Twitter), Facebook, and others in the days ahead. I vehemently oppose any constraints on freedom of expression, regardless of the pretext,” declared Chairman Lingden.
He further called for an immediate reversal of the TikTok ban, advocating for the necessity to regulate and manage potential distortions arising from social media. However, Lingden firmly asserted that bans should not be seen as the solution under the guise of regulation.
