Cursor IDE Users Report Sudden Connection Failures Despite Stable Internet

A growing number of Cursor IDE users reported sudden connection failures on Tuesday evening, encountering persistent errors even with stable internet connections. The issue appears to occur within the IDE interface itself, where users were met with a recurring alert:

“Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN.”

According to firsthand accounts, the problem began abruptly while users were actively working inside Cursor. Attempts to resolve the issue by refreshing the page within the IDE proved ineffective. Notably, the issue did not originate from the Windows application level; users did not restart or refresh the app itself — only the internal IDE page was reloaded.

Despite the error message pointing to local connectivity, affected users confirmed that their networks were functioning normally. Shortly after the first reports surfaced, similar complaints emerged globally, indicating that the disruption was not isolated to individual regions or systems.

The widespread nature of the incident suggests a potential server-side outage, infrastructure instability, or upstream service disruption affecting Cursor’s online components. As of now, Cursor has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the failure.

Users are advised to retry periodically while monitoring official channels for status updates. Many have expressed concern due to their reliance on Cursor for active development work, with the sudden outage halting progress across multiple ongoing projects.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
