The Nepal national women’s football team will compete against Indonesia today in the first match of the Tri-Nation International Women’s Friendly tournament. The competition features squads from Nepal, Indonesia, and Chinese Taipei. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:15 PM Nepal time.

This encounter marks the first time the two nations have faced each other in six years. Their last meeting took place during the second round of the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in 2019. In that match, Nepal secured a 2-1 victory, with both goals scored by striker Sabitra Bhandari.

Bhandari, who currently plays in the Australian women’s league, will not participate in today’s fixture due to an injury. Consequently, goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba will assume the captaincy duties in her absence.

Nepal’s Head Coach, Nabin Neupane, acknowledged the strength of the Indonesian side, noting that their roster includes players with experience in European leagues. Despite the competitive opposition, Neupane affirmed that Nepal’s objective remains a victory.

While admitting that the team will feel the absence of their regular captain, the coach expressed confidence in the current squad. Neupane stated that the other players are capable of stepping up to fill the void left by Bhandari.
