Separate Incidents Lead to Two Fatalities in Kailali District

Two individuals have died in separate incidents that occurred recently within the Kailali District of Nepal. The fatalities involved a woman who succumbed to injuries after falling from a tree while cutting fodder in Chure Rural Municipality, and a man who drowned while fishing in the Mohana River near Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City.

In the first incident, Niramala Devi Thapa, a 36-year-old resident of Bhungga in Chure Rural Municipality-6, died after sustaining critical injuries from a fall. The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. while she was cutting foliage in a forest near her home. She was rushed to Atariya Hospital for medical treatment, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The second fatality involves 40-year-old Rajesh Chaudhary, a resident of Kailari Rural Municipality-6 who was currently residing in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-9. Chaudhary drowned while fishing in the Mohana River on Wednesday evening. Rescuers retrieved him from the water and transported him to Seti Provincial Hospital, where attending physicians declared him dead on arrival.

Local police authorities are investigating both incidents. The deaths underscore the risks associated with common livelihood activities, particularly in rural and semi-urban settings within the region.
