Two dead in Ilam accident After Truck Hits Scooter

A traffic accident involving a truck and a scooter on the Mechi Highway in Bhanjyang Golai, Ilam Municipality-9, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The collision occurred when a truck traveling from Jhapa toward Ilam hit a scooter coming from the opposite direction.

The victims were identified by the District Police Office, Ilam, as 26-year-old David Thapa Magar of Golbasti, Ilam Municipality-9, and 18-year-old Chhewang Sherpa of Nayabazar, Maijogmai-1. The two individuals, who were riding on the scooter, sustained critical injuries in the impact.

Both seriously injured victims were immediately transported to the Ilam District Hospital, where doctors officially pronounced them deceased upon arrival. The truck involved in the incident was registered as Province 1-01-001 Kha 4101, and the scooter was Province 1-01-012 Pa 4899.

Following the collision, police detained the truck driver, 25-year-old Ram Prasad Shrestha of Biblate, Ilam Municipality-5, for further investigation. Authorities are currently examining the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
