UP Accident: Bus Carrying Nepalis Catches Fire

A bus carrying Nepali passengers caught fire after crashing into a truck in Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Three people in the bus have been confirmed dead after being burned in the fire. Twenty-four others were injured, and six of them are in serious condition. The identities of the dead and injured have not been confirmed yet.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday when a bus (UP 22 AT 0245) and a truck (UP 21 DT 5237) collided on the Phulbariya road in the Kotwali Dehat area.

After the collision, the bus slid for about 100 meters and hit a high-tension electricity pole. The pole broke and fell on the bus, causing an electric current to spread and start a fire, according to Indian media.

The bus was traveling from Sunauli, near the Nepal–India border, toward Delhi. There were 45 passengers on board, most of them Nepali, according to Dainik Bhaskar.
