Tanahun Produces Over 35,000 Metric Tons of Rice

This year, rice production has increased in Tanahun. According to the Agriculture Development Office, the district produced 35,422 metric tons of rice.

Rice was grown on 8,512 hectares of land using different varieties such as Sabitri, Ram, Sukha-3, Makwanpur-1, Sawa Mansuli, Kalo Masino, and Hybrid (Varanshankar). Last year, rice was grown on 8,120 hectares, and the total production was 33,292 metric tons.

Information Officer Kiran Pariyar said that 13,551 hectares of cultivable land in the district are still unused.

At present, 6,347 hectares have irrigation facilities, while 7,236 hectares have seasonal irrigation.

He also said that recent unseasonal rainfall caused damage worth about 10 million rupees.
