Kylian Mbappe Equals Club Scoring Record in Real Madrid Victory

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe matched a significant club milestone on Saturday, scoring his 59th goal of the calendar year. This achievement equals the record for the most goals scored in a single year by a Real Madrid player, previously set by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2013.

The record-tying goal occurred during a match against Sevilla, where Mbappe converted a penalty in the final four minutes of play. This late strike secured a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid and marked a historic moment for the French international on his 27th birthday.

Following the goal, Mbappé celebrated by performing the signature celebration associated with Ronaldo, whom he described as his sporting idol. Since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024, the forward has recorded 29 goals for the club this season, including 18 in La Liga.

Earlier in the match, Jude Bellingham provided the opening goal for Real Madrid with a header in the 38th minute. Sevilla faced significant setbacks during the game, including the dismissal of defender Marcao for a second yellow card and the ejection of manager Matías Almeyda following a dispute with the referee.

In post-match statements, Mbappe expressed his honor in matching the record of a player he considers the best in the club’s history. He credited Ronaldo for assisting with his transition to the team and noted that the performance served as a tribute to their professional relationship.
