UML Recommends Milan Ghimire for Morang-3 Federal Election

The Nepal Communist Party (UML) has recommended young leader Milan Ghimire (Rudra) as a candidate for the upcoming federal election from Morang-3, a highly discussed constituency. Ghimire, known for his exemplary image in student politics, has gained recognition among the youth in Morang.

On Monday, the UML regional committee unanimously forwarded the names of 17 candidates to the district committee. With the government moving forward to hold federal elections, political parties are promoting young candidates. In Morang-3, Ghimire is expected to compete with Sunil Sharma, making the candidate selection process particularly sensitive. The upcoming election in this constituency is anticipated to be closely contested. In the previous election, Sunil Sharma defeated Bhanubhakta Dhakal by a large margin and has now been unanimously recommended again by the Nepali Congress. Meanwhile, UML has fielded youth candidates including Dhakal, signaling a new approach by the party in the area.

Milan Ghimire began his political career at Sukuna Multiple Campus and rose to become a central leader of ANNFSU, also leading various social organizations. He is well-known among the local population and has strong grassroots support. With growing youth demands fueled by movements like the Gen-Z initiative, competition in Morang-3 is expected to be intense, especially with candidates like Birendra Basnet also in the race.

Along with Ghimire, UML has recommended the names of Nabin Thapa, Bijay Dangi, Gyanendra Subedi, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Iran Rai, Kedar Gurungai, Surendra Thapa, Birendra Shrestha, Yuvraj Baskota, Kishor Rai, Dhana Tamang, Madhu Gurung, Prakash Rai, Rabin Thapa, Sujay Gautam, and Mohan Prasad Neupane to the central committee.
