Sompal Kami Set for Historic Third T20 World Cup

Nepal has announced its squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup to be held in February in India and Sri Lanka, with Sompal Kami emerging as the only player to represent the country in three editions of the tournament.

Sompal first played in the T20 World Cup when Nepal made its debut in 2014. He also featured in the 2024 edition and has now been included in the squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, marking a rare milestone in Nepali cricket.

Five players will make their T20 World Cup debut this time. Sher Malla, who has earned his first-ever call-up to the national team, along with Basir Ahmed, Lokesh Bam, Aarif Sheikh and Nandan Yadav, will be playing in their first World Cup.

Meanwhile, nine players, including captain Rohit Paudel, will feature in the T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time. Along with Rohit, vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee, Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Sandeep Jora and Gulshan Jha were also part of Nepal’s squad in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Captain Rohit Paudel will lead Nepal in the T20 World Cup for the second straight edition.
