Picnic Bus Crashes in Shankharapur Forest Area of Kathmandu

A bus accident that occurred in a forest area of Shankharapur Municipality–3, Kathmandu, has been confirmed to involve passengers returning from a picnic.

According to SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the bus bearing registration number Ba 4 Kha 8788 met with an accident at around 5:45 PM on Sunday evening. The bus reportedly veered off the road, plunged nearly 100 meters downhill, and became lodged against a tree.

Police teams were immediately deployed for rescue operations.

SP Bhattarai said that 35 to 40 people were on board the bus at the time of the accident. The passengers were employees of an organization called Nature Hub, who were returning from a picnic.

A total of 22 injured passengers have been taken to various hospitals for treatment, including Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu, Nepal Medical College, and Attarkhel-based hospitals.

Among the injured, two are in critical condition, while the condition of the others is reported to be stable.
