NC Leader Chandra Bhandari Vows to Prevent Party Split

Nepali Congress leader Chandra Bhandari has said that he will not allow the party to split. Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Saturday, Bhandari emphasized that they are ready to prevent any division within the party.

“People may ask whether Congress will split. But we will not let the party divide,” he said. “There are concerns that the party could break under the pretext of a special convention, but we will prevent that. If Nepali Congress does not learn from its past, it cannot secure its future. By turning the special or policy convention into a meaningful platform, we can enter the next general convention in four months even stronger.”

Bhandari also criticized the party leadership for failing to address the sentiments of the “Gen Z” movement. “Had a special convention been held after the Gen Z movement, it would have brought more enthusiasm to the party. Therefore, a special convention was necessary. Even if it was not fully verified, the central committee should have accepted the recommendation made by 54 percent of our colleagues,” he said.

He further expressed concern that the voices of those supporting a special convention have been ignored.
