The Bengaluru City Police on Sunday appealed to the public not to gather at the Town Hall, following social media calls for an event organized under the banner of the “Cockroach Janata Party.”

Social media posts circulating under the name “Cockroach Janata Party, Karnataka” had called for a “peaceful human chain” to be formed at the Town Hall on Sunday.

No Official Permission Requested

City police stated that they have not received any official application to host such an event at the venue. Furthermore, the police confirmed that no permission had been sought from the Greater Bengaluru Authority to organize the gathering.

Violation of High Court Orders

Highlighting legal restrictions, the police cited an order from the Karnataka High Court, which dictates that demonstrations or public events are not permitted across the city, as Freedom Park has been designated as the exclusive venue for all protests.

The police warned that gathering and protesting in front of the Town Hall would be considered a direct violation of the High Court’s directives.

“The public is advised not to intentionally or unintentionally share or forward such messages on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Twitter (X), and to refrain from gathering near the Town Hall,” the police statement read.
