Two Killed After Trees Fall During Windstorm in Udayapur’s Katari

Two people have died after being trapped by falling trees following a windstorm in Katari, Udayapur.

In Katari Municipality–8, Thaliyatar, 49-year-old Minamaya Tamang died after being struck by a tree during a storm. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kedar Man Dotel, chief of the Area Police Office in Katari, the incident occurred when Tamang was moving goats and sheep from a shed near her house. A strong windstorm accompanied by rain uprooted a Kutmiro tree near her home, and a branch struck her, causing her death.

Police said she was immediately taken to the Provincial Hospital in Katari, Udaypur, where doctors declared her dead after examination.

Including Tamang, two people have died in separate storm-related incidents in Katari. On Monday evening, 64-year-old Birendra Chaudhary of Katari Municipality–5 was also killed after being trapped under a fallen tree during the windstorm.

Five other people were injured in the same incident involving Chaudhary.
