Fire Damages Building in Khotang District

A fire at a community building in Sakela Rural Municipality of Khotang District has caused an estimated loss of Rs 31.636 million, according to preliminary reports.

The fire broke out today at the community building, which was being used as a storage facility and residential quarters for the rural municipality.

A team from the Area Police Office, Mattim, along with local residents, rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident and managed to extinguish the fire after nearly one and a half hours, said D.M. Chamling, Information Officer of the rural municipality.

Chief of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Budhathoki, said that an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
