Angel Reese traded to Atlanta Dream in multi-pick deal

The Chicago Sky have traded two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2028.

As part of the agreement, Atlanta will also receive the right to swap second-round picks with Chicago in 2028.

Reese, who has emerged as one of the league’s most influential young players, departs Chicago after a strong start to her professional career. The Sky acknowledged her contribution in a brief social media message, thanking her and wishing her success in Atlanta.

Atlanta’s general manager Dan Padover described Reese as “a dynamic talent” and said she fits the team’s long-term plans.

“She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league, and her competitiveness, production and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision,” he said. “This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”

Reese said she was “beyond grateful” for the opportunity and added that she was focused on continuing to develop her game while competing at the highest level.

Dream head coach Karl Smesko highlighted Reese’s all-around ability, saying her “energy, toughness and instincts” would suit the team’s playing style.

Meanwhile, Chicago general manager Jeff Pagliocca praised Reese’s impact during her time with the franchise, noting her record-breaking achievements in her first two seasons.

“We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game,” he said. “We wish Angel all the best in her next chapter.”

The move signals a significant shift for both teams as they look to reshape their futures.

This is a developing story.
