Election Commission Bans Physical Display of Election Symbols in Campaigns

The Election Commission has directed political parties and independent candidates not to use physical representations of election symbols during campaign activities.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that parties and independent candidates have been instructed to refrain from carrying or displaying physical forms of their election symbols during election campaigning.

According to the Commission, carrying physical models of election symbols during campaigns has had an adverse impact on public order and peace. Therefore, it has issued the directive to prevent such practices.

The Commission clarified that political parties and candidates are allowed to promote their election symbols by printing or displaying them on cloth, banners, flex boards, or paper in accordance with the prescribed standards. However, it has received complaints and grievances stating that the use of physical election symbols made of metal, wood, or other similar materials during campaign events has increased security risks.
