Paraan

Paraan is an emotional family drama set in a village in Dhankuta, Nepal. The story revolves around an elderly father named Dharmanath (played by Nir Shah). For Dharmanath, his children are his “Paraan” (which means his life or soul). He believes that a person needs the company of their loved ones to truly live, not just breath.

The conflict begins when his sons start leaving him one by one to go to the city or abroad for a better life. The movie shows the pain and loneliness of aging parents who are left behind in the village while their children migrate. It asks a touching question: What happens to a father when the children he lives for go far away?
