An 8-year-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle in Lalitpur Metropolitan City–15, Gyananagar Tole.

The deceased has been identified as Roshi, daughter of Anirudra Prasad Sah, originally from Sarlahi and currently residing in Hattiban, Lalitpur.

According to police, the incident took place around 3:30 PM on Saturday while the girl was crossing the road in Gyananagar Tole. She was struck by a jeep (registration number Province 1–03–033 Cha 8780) which continued moving after the collision.

Critically injured in the accident, the girl was rushed to B & B Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead at around 7:00 PM the same evening.

Police have arrested the jeep driver, 21-year-old Roshan Shrestha from Hetauda Metropolitan City–4, Makwanpur, who currently resides in Hattiban, Lalitpur.

District Police Range Lalitpur spokesperson SP Gautam Mishra said that further investigation is underway and a case has been filed under charges related to vehicular homicide.
