Western Low-Pressure System Affecting Weather Across Nepal

A partial influence of a western low-pressure system is currently affecting the country. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, most hilly and mountainous regions are generally experiencing cloudy conditions, while the remaining areas have partly cloudy skies.

At present, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in some places of Gandaki Province and at one or two locations in Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

According to the division, this afternoon the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with other provinces, will generally remain cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, as well as snowfall, in some parts of the Himalayan region.

Similarly, a few places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as some hilly areas of other provinces, may witness moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. One or two places in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces may also receive moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with other similar areas of the country, are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the areas will experience partly cloudy conditions.

There is also a chance of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning, along with snowfall, in some parts of the Himalayan region. A few locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as some hilly areas in other provinces, may also experience moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Additionally, one or two places in the Terai regions of Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces may receive moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning, the division stated.
