Bird Counting to Begin in Bardiya from Monday

A bird counting campaign is set to begin in Bardiya from Monday. Birds will be counted in areas such as Badeyatal, Bardiya National Park, buffer zones, and community forests where they are commonly seen.

Sarojmani Paudel, Information Officer and Conservation Officer, said that a meeting chaired by Senior Conservation Officer Ashok Kumar Ram on Saturday morning decided to carry out the bird count in the district. A total of 30 conservation staff will be deployed for the survey.

The two-day bird counting program will be conducted with support from Bardiya National Park, the National Nature Conservation Fund, the Hotel Guide Association, and local nature guides.

Last year, 535 birds of various species were recorded in Bardiya, according to Ram Bahadur Shahi, Chairman of the Nepal Ornithological Society and coordinator of the waterbird count in Banke and Bardiya.
