CAN Approves NPL 2025 Finances and 2026 Budget

The executive committee meeting of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has approved the financial report of the Nepal Premier League 2025, including its income and expenditure details. The decision was made during a meeting held on Monday, where the board also approved the annual program and budget for 2026.

The meeting further decided to hold CAN’s annual general assembly on April 10 and 11, 2026 in Biratnagar, Koshi Province.

CAN also resolved to request the Government of Nepal to extend the lease agreement for the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, and to transfer the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground, currently managed by the National Sports Council, to CAN’s management. CAN stated that the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground is vital for the development of Nepali cricket, especially as it has already undergone upgrades, including the installation of floodlights, and is equipped to host international-level matches.

Additionally, the tenure of district committees in 20 districts, whose four-year terms have expired, has been extended until the end of May, with instructions to conduct elections immediately after the general assembly.

The board also approved the financial report of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League. The tournament generated total revenue of over 473.6 million rupees, with expenditures of around 219.6 million rupees. After expenses, approximately 253.9 million rupees remained, of which 50 percent has been distributed among the eight franchise teams. CAN is set to receive around 92.1 million rupees.

Furthermore, in accordance with International Cricket Council guidelines, CAN has decided to invest 500,000 US dollars annually in the development of women’s cricket in Nepal.
