Candidates to Receive Election Symbols Today

Candidates contesting the House of Representatives election will receive their election symbols today. The symbols will be distributed after the completion of the candidate withdrawal process.

According to the election schedule, candidates may withdraw their nominations from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. today. The final list of candidates will be published between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Following this, election symbols will be allocated from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

For the direct elections scheduled on Falgun 21, candidate nominations were registered nationwide on Magh 6. The period for filing claims and objections was set for Magh 7. After reviewing the nominations and objections, election officials finalized decisions and published the candidate list on Thursday.

A total of 3,486 candidacies were registered across 165 constituencies nationwide. Of these, 3,089 were men, 396 were women, and one candidate belonged to another gender category.

Nepal’s 275-member House of Representatives is elected through a mixed electoral system, with 165 members chosen through the direct electoral system and 110 members elected under proportional representation.
