First Five-Star Hotel in Sudurpashchim Set to Open in Dhangadhi

Club Chaulani Limited and IHG Hotels & Resorts have officially signed a management agreement to establish the first international five-star hotel in Sudurpashchim Province. The signing ceremony took place on Monday in Kathmandu between Dr. Rajendra KC, Chairman of Club Chaulani, and Sudeep Jain, Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts for South Asia.

The hotel, branded as Holiday Inn by IHG, is being constructed in the main market area of Dhangadhi. According to Managing Director Mansingh Saud, approximately 40% of the construction is already complete. The facility aims to be fully operational within the next 18 months, though 35 rooms are expected to open within the next two months.

The project represents a total investment of 2.20 billion rupees, funded through 770 million rupees from promoters and 1.43 billion rupees in bank loans. The hotel will feature 115 international-standard rooms, including five premium suites, and will span across 18,500 square feet.

Key Facilities and Economic Impact

The upcoming luxury hotel is designed to serve as a major hub for tourism and business in the region.

  • Events: A banquet hall with a capacity for 700 guests.
  • Leisure: A rooftop swimming pool, a modern fitness center, and multiple fine-dining restaurants.
  • Entertainment: A casino facility intended to attract international visitors.
  • Meetings: Specialized conference rooms and meeting halls.

Project directors emphasized that the hotel will act as a bridge for tourists coming from the neighboring Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. By providing high-tier hospitality, the project is expected to create direct employment for approximately 1,500 individuals.

Local business leaders, including Pushkar Ojha, President of the Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that this development is a significant milestone for the province. The hotel is expected to promote spiritual and natural tourism to destinations such as Khaptad, Shukla Phanta, and Badimalika, ultimately driving economic growth in Sudurpashchim.
