Former Minister Homnath Dahal Passes Away

Senior journalist and political leader Homnath Dahal has passed away. Known for his outspoken voice, Dahal had been repeatedly arrested during his lifetime and spent nearly three years in prison for raising issues of public concern.

Dahal had served as the Chairperson and Managing Director of the Gorkhapatra Corporation. He was also the President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists from 2049 to 2051 (BS) and a member of the Press Council Nepal.

In politics, Dahal held key roles within the Nepali Congress (Democratic), serving as a central committee member, party spokesperson, and coordinator of the Intellectual Department. He later served as Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives in 2061 (BS).

His death has been mourned by journalists, political leaders, and well-wishers, who have remembered him as a fearless voice for press freedom and democratic values.
