Is Claude AI down? Thousands report issues as outages spike

Users of Claude AI reported widespread disruptions on Monday, with thousands flagging problems accessing the platform, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.

The first wave of reports emerged early in the morning, with more than 2,500 users logging issues by 11:26am Eastern Time (8:11pm Nepal Time). Most complaints were կապված to difficulties using Claude Chat, including failed responses and login errors.

Despite the surge, Claude’s official status page initially stated that all systems were operational, creating uncertainty among users about the scale of the disruption.

By 11:29am ET (8:14pm NPT), reports had risen to more than 3,300, suggesting the problem was spreading. Within minutes, the number climbed further, reaching nearly 5,000 by 11:40am ET (8:25pm NPT).

The company later acknowledged the issue. At 11:48am ET (8:33pm NPT), an update on its status checker confirmed “elevated errors” across Claude.ai on both desktop and mobile platforms.

Users were warned they might experience problems logging in, using voice features or completing chats, as engineers worked on a fix.

The disruption continued to escalate, with more than 8,000 reports logged by 12:00pm ET (8:45pm NPT). The company added that the issue was also affecting login on other services, including Claude.code.

Outages affecting major AI platforms have become increasingly visible as millions rely on them for daily tasks, raising concerns about reliability during peak usage.

The extent of the disruption and when full service will be restored remains unclear.
