The Government of India on Wednesday firmly denied rumours of an impending nationwide lockdown. Officials clarified that there are no plans to restrict public movement or impose any sweeping restrictions on businesses and daily activities.

The clarification comes amid rising tensions in West Asia, which had sparked speculation on social media about possible preventive measures in India. Government authorities emphasized that citizens can continue their normal routines without fear of sudden lockdowns.

“The reports circulating online are completely false,” said a government spokesperson. “There is no plan for a nationwide lockdown, and essential services and transportation will continue to operate as usual.”

Authorities urged the public not to be swayed by unverified information and to rely only on official channels for updates. They also warned that spreading misinformation could create unnecessary panic and disrupt daily life.
