Inaugural Kawasoti Gold Cup Football Tournament Commences in Nawalparasi

The first Kawasoti Gold Cup Football Tournament begins today in Danda, Kawasoti Municipality-16, under the national slogan of sports for health and the nation. The opening match features a competition between Gandaki Police Club and the host team, Kawasoti A, according to organizing committee chairman Tej Narayan Aryal.

Organized by the Sunlight Community Development Center, the event is supported by the Kawasoti Municipality and coordinated with the Nawalpur District Football Association. Twelve teams from across the country are scheduled to compete at the Sunlight Community Development Center ground in Danda Bazar.

The tournament offers a first-place prize of 301,000 rupees, while the runner-up will receive 150,000 rupees. Additionally, two semi-finalist teams will each be awarded 25,000 rupees, as confirmed by the event financial coordinator, Tej Bahadur KC.

Organizers expect the competition to enhance the skills of local athletes and encourage youth participation in sports. The initiative aims to establish the Kawasoti region as a significant hub for sports tourism, with the tournament scheduled to run until December 31, 2026.

Chairman Aryal stated that this inaugural event serves as a foundation for future editions. The committee intends to make the Kawasoti Gold Cup an annual fixture to ensure the long-term development of sports and the promotion of local talent in the region.
