Keki and Swastima Warn Public Against Impersonation Scams on Social Media

Celebrated Nepali actresses Keki Adhikari and Swastima Khadka have issued public warnings regarding a rise in digital fraud involving the misuse of their names and images. Scammers are reportedly creating fake profiles on messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Viber to solicit money from fans and acquaintances.

Swastima Khadka recently shared screenshots of fraudulent chat conversations on her official Facebook page to alert her followers. She urged the public not to be deceived by these messages, clarifying that individuals are impersonating her to request financial assistance from her social circle.

Keki Adhikari released a similar statement, emphasizing that using a celebrity’s identity for extortion is a punishable legal offense. She requested her supporters to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving her likeness on messaging apps.

This incident follows similar reports from actress Samragyee RL Shah and several prominent figures in the music industry who faced similar impersonation attempts last month. Digital security experts note that these scammers often target the friends and followers of celebrities by exploiting their public trust.

Law enforcement authorities have advised social media users to verify the identity of the sender before engaging in any financial transactions. Celebrities continue to urge their audiences to rely only on verified official accounts for authentic communication.
