KP Sharma Oli Secures Third Term as CPN-UML Chairman

KP Sharma Oli has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) for a third consecutive term. The results from the party’s internal election on Wednesday confirm that Oli will continue to lead the organization, following his previous successful bids during the ninth and tenth national conventions.

According to data released by the party’s election commission, Oli secured a commanding victory with 1,663 votes. His sole challenger for the chairmanship, Ishwar Pokhrel, received 564 votes. While the victory is mathematically certain based on these figures, an official formal declaration is expected to follow shortly.

The election marks a significant moment for the CPN-UML as it solidifies its leadership structure for the next period. With this mandate, Oli maintains his position as the primary authority within Nepal’s main opposition party, signaling a continuation of current party policies and strategic direction.

The internal polling process concluded with the counting of ballots from delegates across the country. Following the official announcement of the chairmanship, the party is expected to finalize the appointments of other office bearers and central committee members to complete the new leadership transition.
