Lumbini Lions Set Target of 157 Runs for Karnali Yaks in NPL

The Lumbini Lions have set a target of 157 runs for the Karnali Yaks in today’s Nepal Premier League (NPL) match.

Playing at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, Lumbini lost the toss and was asked to bat first. They scored 156 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Captain Rohit Misses Half-Century Lumbini’s captain, Rohit Paudel, played a strong inning but was unlucky to miss his half-century (50 runs) by just one run. He scored 49 runs off 43 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. He was dismissed by Karnali captain Sompal Kami.

Other Batting Highlights

  • Ruben Trumpelmann played an excellent short inning at the end (a cameo). He scored 28 not out off just 13 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 1 four.
  • JJ Smit contributed 23 runs off 14 balls.
  • D’Arcy Short scored 19 runs.
  • Other batters struggled to score high runs.

Karnali’s Bowling

  • Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets.
  • Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Mark Watt, Yuvraj Khatri, and Bipin Prasad Sharma took 1 wicket each.

How the Innings Went Karnali had a good start when Nandan Yadav got Lumbini opener Sandeep Jora out for just 1 run in the second over.

D’Arcy Short and Rohit Paudel tried to stabilize the innings with a 36-run partnership, but Short was out in the 7th over by Gulshan Jha. While Rohit kept scoring from one end, wickets kept falling at the other. Dilip Nath (6 runs), Gulbadin Naib, and Sumit Maharjan (4 runs) all got out cheaply.

After Rohit got out in the 17th over, late hitting by Trumpelmann helped push the score past 150.
