Police Use Tear Gas and Warning Shots to Control Simara Protests

Police in Simara, Bara, deployed four rounds of tear gas and fired two rounds into the air to bring a tense situation under control. The actions were taken after “Gen Z” protesters defied a curfew and gathered on the streets.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Tamang of Bara confirmed the use of four rounds of tear gas and two rounds of aerial firing as police attempted to manage the escalating protests. During efforts to disperse the crowd, four police personnel were reported injured, including one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), one Inspector, one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), and one police Constable.

The demonstrators are applying pressure on authorities to arrest all individuals involved in Wednesday’s alleged attack on the youth activists. Police have so far arrested two ward chairmen in connection with the incident. The security measures, including the use of force, were necessary to enforce the curfew and restore order in the area.
