At least eleven individuals have died following a severe road collision in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, India. The District Collector of Chitradurga confirmed to the media that the accident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM on Wednesday night along National Highway 48.

The incident involved a sleeper coach bus traveling from Bengaluru toward Gokarna. According to official reports, the bus collided with a truck traveling from the opposite direction, which resulted in a high-intensity fire that quickly engulfed the passenger vehicle.

There were 32 passengers on board the bus at the time of the collision. Authorities have identified eleven bodies recovered from the wreckage, while twenty-four other individuals sustained various injuries. The injured passengers were immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.

Visual evidence from the scene indicates that the impact was devastating. The bus was completely destroyed by the fire and the force of the crash, while the front section of the truck suffered extensive damage. Local emergency services worked throughout the night to manage the scene and assist survivors.

District officials are currently overseeing the recovery efforts and providing support to the families of the victims. An investigation into the exact cause of the collision on the highway is expected to follow as authorities clear the site of the wreckage.
