RPP Nominates Kunti Devi Pokhrel for Kathmandu-2 Seat

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has officially recommended Kunti Devi Pokhrel as its candidate for the House of Representatives from Kathmandu Constituency No. 2. Pokhrel, who secured the highest number of votes to become a central committee member during the party’s last general convention, was put forward following extensive internal discussions. Local party organizations and grassroots workers have expressed strong support for her nomination.

Pokhrel is recognized within the party as an influential leader with a significant support base in her constituency. Her background includes extensive work in social service and programs focused on women’s empowerment. Supporters point to her long-standing presence in the community and her involvement in addressing local public concerns as key reasons for her popularity and political standing.

The recommendation follows a successful career in organizational leadership where she has maintained a close relationship with the local electorate. Party sources indicate that her direct engagement with citizens and her focus on community development have established her as a prominent political figure in the region.

The RPP leadership has stated that while the local recommendation is official, the final decision on all candidacies will be made by the Central Committee. Once the internal review process is complete, the party will issue a formal public announcement confirming its final list of candidates for the upcoming elections.

This move marks the beginning of the party’s formal election preparations in the Kathmandu valley. Current member of parliament for the constituency is Sobita Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, making this a highly competitive seat in the next legislative race.
