Nepali comedian Sagar Lamsal taken to government attorney’s office for statement in rape case

Sagar Lamsal, popularly known as “Bale”, has been taken in handcuffs to the government attorney’s office to record his statement following his arrest on rape allegations.

Police escorted the actor to the office ahead of seeking a remand extension from the court. Authorities are expected to present him at the Kathmandu District Court later on Sunday.

Images from the scene show Lamsal dressed in green detainee clothing with his head shaved.

He was taken into custody after a woman based in the United States accused him of rape in a Facebook post.

Police say further investigation is under way as legal proceedings begin.
