Sudurpaschim Royals set run target of 169 against Chitwan Rhinos

Chris Lynn’s half-century helped Sudurpaschim Royals set a target of 170 runs for Chitwan Rhinos in the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL).

In the day-night match at TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Thursday, Sudurpaschim last season’s runners-up batted first after losing the toss and scored 169 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs.

With regular opener Josh Brown rested, Chris Lynn opened the innings with Binod Bhandari. Lynn scored the highest—75 runs—hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes off 56 balls. He retired hurt after the 17th over.

Lynn shared a 46-run partnership for the first wicket with Binod Bhandari, and later added 45 runs for the fifth wicket with Arif Sheikh.

Arif Sheikh and captain Dipendra Singh Airee both remained not out with 24 runs each.

Captain Dipendra, who came to the crease at the start of the 18th over after Lynn retired, played aggressively, hitting 2 sixes off 14 balls. Arif hit 2 fours and 1 six from 16 balls. Binod Bhandari added 21 runs, and Punit Mehra scored 13.

In bowling, Chitwan’s Saif Zaib took 2 wickets, while Ranjit Kumar and George Scrimshaw took 1 wicket each.
