Teen Arrested in Saptari for Allegedly Stealing Two Buffaloes

Police in Saptari have arrested a 19-year-old man on charges of stealing two buffaloes from a local farmer’s shed.

The suspect, identified as Shiv Kumar Sada of Jhanjar, Bodebarsain Municipality-5, was taken into custody by the District Police Office, Saptari.

According to police, the buffaloes were stolen at around midnight on Tuesday from the cowshed of Madaneshwar Sada in Pato Sundarpur Tole, Dakneshwori Municipality-5.

Acting Information Officer and Police Inspector Bijay Karki said that police launched a search operation immediately after receiving verbal information about the theft. During the search, officers found Shiv Kumar Sada walking with the stolen buffaloes along the Hulaki Highway auxiliary road section at Khadakpur Tole, Bodebarsain Municipality-10, and arrested him on the spot.

Police said an investigation is underway after obtaining a five-day remand from the Saptari District Court under a theft case.

Meanwhile, local residents of Khadakpur, who had briefly detained Sada before police arrived, claimed that during questioning he alleged that another man, identified as Mohammad Jamil of Jhanjar, had hired him to move the buffaloes in exchange for Rs 500. Sada also reportedly told locals that Jamil instructed him to flee if he saw police approaching.

Police have not confirmed the allegation against Jamil and said further investigation is ongoing.
