Three Killed in Jeep Accident in Kalikot

Three people were killed in a jeep accident in Salleri, Shubhakalikā Rural Municipality–4 of Kalikot district on Friday evening at around 6:00 pm.

The accident occurred while a jeep bearing registration number Bh 1 Ja 2898 was climbing uphill in Salleri along the Seri–Pantadi road. The vehicle reportedly rolled backward and crashed, killing all three occupants on the spot.

According to Kalikot District Police Chief Himbahadur Khatri, the victims included two excavator operators and one assistant driver. The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Shankar Kathayat of Aathbiskot Municipality, Dailekh; Tekendra Shahi of Achham; and assistant driver Navaraj Shahi of Shubhakalikā Rural Municipality–2, Kalikot. All three were involved in road construction work on the Seri–Pantadi road.

Police said the bodies were recovered from the cliff and brought up to the road. Preparations are underway to take the bodies to the district headquarters after calling the relatives for post-mortem examinations. The jeep was found completely wrecked about 500 meters below the road near the bank of the Tila River.

Police reported that the jeep driver has made contact with authorities, though questioning is yet to be conducted. Following the incident, a team led by Chief District Officer Gorkan Raj Suyal, along with Police Chief Khatri, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force personnel, arrived at the accident site from the district headquarters, Manma.
