Turkey School Shooting Leaves Nine Dead, Including Students and Teacher

A school shooting in Turkey has left nine people dead, including eight students and one teacher, authorities have confirmed.

The incident took place at the Aysar Calik Secondary School in the Kahramanmaras region in southern Turkey, according to Interior Minister Mustafa Sifsi. He said 13 other people were injured in the attack.

Six of the injured are in critical condition. The 14-year-old attacker was also killed during the incident. The motive behind the shooting has not yet been established, according to BBC reports.

Turkish media reported that the student gunman entered two classrooms and opened fire indiscriminately. He was reportedly carrying five firearms and seven magazines at the time of the attack.

Authorities said the attacker’s father is a retired police officer. The tragedy comes a day after another shooting in southern Turkey, where a former student opened fire at a high school, injuring 16 people before turning the gun on himself.
