SAFF Women’s Championship Fixtures 2026 Nepal Time

Since the tournament's inception in 2010, Nepal have consistently been South Asia's nearly-women.

The national side, currently 87th in the Fifa world rankings, will be desperate to finally break their duck after finishing as runners-up in six of the previous seven tournaments.

The Gorkhali Chelis opened their Group A campaign against Bhutan on Monday, 25 May. All fixtures for the regional competition are being held at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, culminating in the final on Saturday, 6 June.

The eighth edition of the tournament sees six teams split into two groups of three. Following a single-legged round-robin phase, the top two sides from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Nepal are drawn in Group A alongside Sri Lanka (162nd) and Bhutan (164th). Group B features defending champions Bangladesh (112th), host nation India (69th), and the Maldives (167th).

Overcoming Past Heartbreaks

Since the tournament’s inception in 2010, Nepal have consistently been South Asia’s nearly-women. They suffered final defeats to India in the first five editions of the competition, and fell at the final hurdle to Bangladesh in both 2022 and 2024.

While five-time champions India and back-to-back winners Bangladesh have historically dominated the top step of the podium, Nepal will feel this is their moment to finally lift the trophy and disrupt the regional hierarchy.

This is the second time India has hosted the women’s event, having staged the 2016 edition in Siliguri. It is also the second SAFF tournament to take place in Goa, echoing the 1999 men’s championship.
