A man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a car accident in Nuwakot on Thursday evening. The injured are currently undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

According to Chief Police Inspector Binod Dhakal of the District Traffic Police Office, Nuwakot, 35 year old Sanjiv Kumar Chaudhary of Sukhipuri 2, Siraha, died after being critically injured in the accident. The electric vehicle met with the accident at Gurjebhanjyang in Shivapuri Rural Municipality 6 along the Chhahare Tokha road section.

Police said Chaudhary was rushed to Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. He was identified through the driving license found with him.

Two others injured in the crash are receiving treatment at the same hospital. They have been identified as 40 year old Utsav Pokharel of Inaruwa Municipality 5, Sunsari, and 44 year old Lokesh Mishra of Gaurighat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City 9. Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi of the District Police Office, Nuwakot, confirmed their condition.

Police said the electric car bearing registration number BAE 0569 was travelling from Dhikure to Kathmandu when it went out of control near Gurjebhanjyang and plunged around 150 meters off the road.

Despite the difficult terrain, dense forest area, and darkness, police with the help of local residents carried out a swift rescue operation and sent the injured to Kathmandu for treatment.

Meanwhile, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Bikram Timilsina expressed sorrow over the incident. He paid tribute to the deceased Sanjiv Kumar Chaudhary and extended condolences to the bereaved family. The minister also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Minister Timilsina further urged people not to share graphic images from the accident on social media.
