Karnali Province is set to host the U-19 National Women’s Cricket Tournament, bringing together teams from all seven provinces in a major domestic competition.

Organised jointly by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and the Karnali Province Cricket Association, the tournament will run from Jestha 22 to Asar 1.

The event is expected to play a key role in the selection process for Nepal’s squad for the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup 2027 A.D. Organisers said the competition will provide a crucial platform for young female cricketers across the country to showcase their talent, while also helping establish Karnali as a growing centre for national sporting events.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Karnali Province Cricket Association treasurer Padam Bahadur Khadka said preparations for the tournament were in the final stage. He added that arrangements related to grounds, accommodation, transport, security and medical services were nearly complete.

Khadka said the opportunity to host the women’s U-19 tournament followed the successful organisation of last year’s national U-16 men’s cricket competition in Karnali. He described the upcoming event as a historic milestone, as it will be the first national women’s cricket tournament held in the province.

The winning team will receive a cash prize of NPR 500,000, while the runners-up will earn NPR 300,000. Individual awards include NPR 40,000 for the best player, NPR 25,000 each for the best batter and best bowler, and NPR 3,000 for the player of the match in each game.
